Accessing geospatial data to map where and when a virus is most common

I’m new to this platform and working on a small project involving epidemiological data. Is there a function, or mode that can provide geospatial data showing the prevalence of a virus in different areas of a country at a specific time, ideally represented as multiple points or regions in one country on a map?

If the virus of interest has a dataset available on https://nextstrain.org, the dataset visualization should have what you need. Most analyses have an interactive map which can be filtered by time in the sidebar, as well as a download option at the bottom of the page for the raw metadata if you wish to analyze that further.

Note that most datasets on our website reflect a subset of available genomic data. They do not aim to capture absolute “prevalence of a virus” which is not possible from genomic data alone, but rather aim to reflect the phylogenetic trends of virus evolution.
