Imagine you are the New Zealand government: they want to know how to design their travel policy. Can a Nextstrain map show us where new strains are arising from within New Zealand and in turn which countries are posing a travel risk to it?

Hi @ilan_Strauss – we are using Nextstrain (and other tools) to understand the origins of community outbreaks / MIQ cases in NZ, e.g. see this Nextstrain Narrative: Re-emergence of community transmission in Aotearoa New Zealand - Genomic overview of the Auckland Outbreak.
In more general terms, the transmission lines shown on the map depend on how the underlying tree was sampled, and therefore subsampling should be tailored for the exact question you are trying to answer.
